Artivism

Artivism is an important facet of my art. I devote time and energy to proposing social protest projects for different causes, whether, political, feminist, and environmental ones. To carry them out, I seek alliances with like-minded feminist collectives in Ecuador and the Canary Islands.
Here are some projects carried out since 2019 under the name of "Tejedoras Subversivas ",(Subversive Weavers) in homage to the book written by Rozsika Parke in 1984 entitled ‘The Subversive Stitch’, which reflects on the social history of thread and needle, the only tools reserved for women in modern Western culture.

She redefined them as follows: ‘The art of embroidery has served to educate women according to the feminine ideal (...), but it has also provided them with a weapon of resistance against the restrictions of femininity itself.’

This perspective presented the art of knitting and embroidery, a patriarchal symbol of women's confinement, as an area that needed to be addressed from a feminist perspective.

Step into a creative space where threads, textures, and colors weave together stories of culture, identity, and imagination. My work blends traditional drawing techniques with contemporary textile practices.
